Chapter 11 speaks of the good shepherd, whom the sheep hated, and the bad shepherd, who is the antichrist. Verse 11:13 is an interesting allusion to some of the circumstances surrounding Jesus' death. The good shepherd was valued at 30 pieces of silver, which was "thrown to the potter". Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot for 30 pieces of silver, which he used to buy "potter's field" where he hung himself. There were other messianic prophecies in today's reading that you may have picked up on... Verse12:10 speaks of the Messiah as being "pierced". Verse 13:9 reads "strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter", referring to the good shepherd and finding fulfillment in the fact that the disciples (except John) ran and hid after Jesus was arrested.
In verse 15 of chapter 11, Zechariah begins to speak of the bad shepherd later given to Israel. This is understood to be a reference to the antichrist. Chapter 12 through 14 are prophecies with near and ditant future fulfillment. The first part of chapter 14, for example, finds fulfillment in the destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of the Romans in AD 70, but beginning in verse 6, the prophecy shifts to the tribulation period.
