Jeremiah's message of hope for the exiles is another example of prophecy fulfilled in the near and distant futures. In the near future, 70 years later, the Jews did return from exile to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. But the magnitude of the restoration described could not possibly refer to this episode in Israel's history. There will be a time in the future, according to end-times theology, when there will be 1000 years of peace. It is referred to as the Millenium. The ultimate fulfillment of Jeremiah's words may occur at this time.
